Sam Cunningham "Sticky Man" - SOLD OUT

This Product is Currently Unavailable

I’ve known Sam for 35 years, and he’s one of the raddest humans I know.  We met while we were in high school and used to travel across town to each others backyard ramps.  When I first started Blockhead in 1985 Sam was riding for a (very) small local brand but after a few months and Blockhead starting to take off I talked Sam into riding for me.

I always knew Sam was a ripper but after spending more time with him skating, doing demos and shooting photos I was blown away by his all around skills.  Ramps, pools, ditches, street...Sam totally and completely murdered everything!  Though we were in a bit of a bubble in Sacramento I knew Sam had what it took to excel as a professional skateboarder.

Here we have for the first time in 30 years another batch of Sam’s first pro model AKA “sticky man”, “gooey man” “stuck” or whatever the kids might have called it back then.  Roughly based on a vintage illustration I found, I thought it would be cool to try and screenprint all the way to the tail which I had never done (still in year 1 in the garage at this point).  This proved to be a real challenge with lots of trial and error but soon I had it down.   This is the must have, cult classic Sam board beloved by Sacto locals and far beyond, you can only have one first pro model.

Originally produced in 6-ply epoxy/glass by Uncle Wiggley it was one of the first Blockhead boards to also be produced in a 7-ply manufactured by Madrid as Uncle Wiggley couldn’t keep up with our ever increasing sales volume.

It’s available in white or natural in 7-ply or blue in 6-ply epoxy/glass which is a much more expensive process thus the price bump on that.  The epoxy/glass was the preferred choice of Sam and many of the team riders because of it’s lighter weight and springy pop.
