Blockhead Dave - DAVE-O model - 9.8" - AVAILABLE NOW!

At 60 years young, Dave Bergthold redefines what it means to be a skater. While many may hang up their boards by this age, Dave not only continues to skate—he thrives on it. The passion is real!  With an unyielding creative approach and impressive skills, he proves that age is just a number.

Dave recently accomplished an incredible feat: grinding a 100-foot rail down a mountain. This jaw-dropping trick showcases a few reasons why I think Dave deserves his own model; his skate brain, his dedication, his endurance, his stubbornness, his style, his technical ability (or lack thereof, but still manages to roll away), his unstoppable creativity, his fearless spirit and his love for pushing boundaries.  Skateboarding nonstop since 1974, he’s a living testament to the idea that true skateboarding knows no limits.

Over the last few years, Dave has adapted his style to embrace street terrain. His commitment to evolving his skateboarding is inspiring for all ages. He proves that you can always find new challenges, no matter your age.

Dave B has more than earned the honor and respect of having his name on a board. It isn’t just a tribute to his accomplishments; it’s a celebration of skateboarding’s vibrant, inclusive spirit—one that encourages everyone, regardless of age, to keep pushing their limits. We’re just finally giving Dave the recognition he deserves!

And to be perfectly clear, when I first mentioned that we NEED a Blockhead Dave B pro model, he was definitely reluctant, but I told him, he turned me pro when I was 19 so I’m just getting him back! He eventually said, “well, I guess I better step it up then.” Well, he did and his first full part in the new Heads Up, Blockhead video is a testament to that. Oh, and you might hear him say that this board isn’t a “pro model”, but too bad, that’s exactly what it is, and I can’t wait to ride one! Congratulations Dave, you fuckin’ did it! Welcome to the pro ranks! And all of us Blockheads congratulate you and thank you for your service.

Dave and I have clocked in 1000s of hours of skate time and footie… Have you skated with a 60 year old that much ? I’ve seen some of the greatest skate moves in skateboarding …. The 100 foot Shred Mountain grind that Dave did , was the best trick I’ve ever seen and been a part of… the last few years Dave has put himself into a “Top G street boss” status, with our posse … Us Blockheads want to skate a board with his name on it… Laban, Hotchy, Kristian and I have pushed him enough and have explained to Dave enough, about how professional and modest he is at life and especially skateboarding… I’m so happy that we are finally making a Dave Bergthold board for us all to be so proud to ride… thanks Dave for putting 40 years into this Blockhead experiment you’ve built us to believe in and skate!!… trust us when we say, “You deserve a pro board!!!! “

Note: My two favorite boards that I've been riding the most in the past year are the Rick Howard mod and the Sidewalk Shark...this is kind of a mash up of those two shapes.  I ride Ace 66's on mine kind of in the vain of riding narrower trucks like on the Sidewalk Shark but Ace 77's or Indy 169's would be a better fit.  Enjoy!
