The newest addition to the Strip Mall Surfer family - The Surfin’ Bird! Putting a little F.U. in FUn! The name pays tribute to Americas favorite land-locked (Strip Mall) surfer band The Trashmen from Minneapolis and their 1960’s hit song.
The shape is an egg (of course) and we designed this one to be a bit shorter with a shorter wheelbase for even more zippy turns. With it’s 11 inch width paired with narrower trucks it handles super surfy! We call the SMS style boards “Wiggle Pigs”, they just feel better with a little more cushion for the pushin’ under your feet.
Revolutionary de-evolution, styled as if it’s from an alternate time line…one where the steel and clay wheel boards of the 60’s evolved in a different direction but the style remains in this classic surf shape. More cruiser than a stunt sled but that makes it more challenging and fun to try some moves on it.
The board features custom (and beautiful) round wheel wells for the narrower trucks so you can have more clearance on those sharp turns. I ride Ace 33’s, Lambert has the 11’s on his and Jesse and Laban the 22’s, the inset wells are designed to work with axle widths between 7” and 9” (or narrower with wider wheels).
The amazing artwork was again inked by Mike Guerrero who’s 50’s/ 60’s surf/ skate style of art was an absolute perfect fit for these.
We of course recommend Clay Pigeon or Street Standard wheels and the new 13.5” Moon Beams rails were designed to be compatible with the unique rounded wheel wells with their tapered ends…grab a set to protect the goods! -DB
